Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance (Mr. Ekniti Nitithanprapas), Representatives from Embassies, Private Sector Rights Holders, and Members of the Press,
I am delighted and honoured to join you today for this press briefing to announce the results of our intellectual property rights enforcement operations. This event marks a tangible collaboration between the Ministry of Commerce (the Department of Intellectual Property), the Ministry of Finance (the Customs Department), the Ministry of Justice (the Department of Special Investigation), and the Royal Thai Police (the Central Investigation Bureau).
The Ministry of Commerce serves as the central agency for coordinating the prevention and suppression of IPR infringement. We also serve as the Secretariat for the National Intellectual Property Policy Committee (NIPPC), chaired by the Prime Minister. Most recently, on April 24. 2026, the Prime Minister issued an order delegating authority to the Deputy Prime Minister to act on his behalf. I have been assigned to serve as the Chairperson of this committee. This committee brings together key agencies such as the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Justice, and the Royal Thai Police. Together, we have pursued an aggressive, proactive strategy to safeguard intellectual property for both local and international investors in Thailand, recognizing that IP is the very foundation of our country's economic growth.
I must emphasise that the Thai Government is not complacent. We prioritise IPR protection as it is vital for the modern economy and essential for building confidence among investors and legitimate business operators. We have consistently focused on systematically elevating the prevention and suppression of IPRs violations by integrating the efforts of economic, security, and justice agencies. Our goal is clear: Disrupt the infringement networks - Close the loopholes - Strike at the sources of the illicit activities damaging our economy.
