EGCO Group Hosts ‘EGCO Cogeneration Power Plant – EGCO Rayong Industrial Estate’ Site Visit, Reinforcing Shareholder Confidence

Electricity Generating Public Company Limited or EGCO Group organized a shareholders site visit, reinforcing its commitment to good corporate governance, transparency, and accountability. The company welcomed 30 shareholders for a guided tour of the EGCO Cogeneration (SPP Replacement) power plant and the EGCO Rayong Industrial Estate (ERIE) project in Rayong Province. The visit highlighted the company’s progress in efficient asset management and its strategic direction for future energy-related business development to support industrial growth within the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC). The shareholders were welcomed and briefed by Mr. Chaiwut Saengpredekorn, General Manager of EGCO Cogeneration Company Limited; Mr. Pongsapat Theppratuangthip, SVP-Business Development (Domestic) 3 of EGCO Group; and Mr. Somporn Kerdduaythong, SVP-Investor Relations of EGCO Group.

The EGCO Cogeneration (SPP Replacement) power plant is located in Map Kha Sub-district, Nikhom Phatthana District, Rayong Province, with EGCO holding an 80% equity stake. This gas-fired cogeneration facility has a net capacity of 74 megawatts (MW) and a steam production capacity of 35 tonnes per hour. It commenced commercial operations (COD) on 28 January 2024, supplying 28 MW of electricity to the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) under a 25-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) as part of the SPP Replacement scheme. The remaining electricity and steam from the production process are sold to industrial users in the Rayong Industrial Park and adjacent areas under long-term supply agreements. Equipped with state-of-the-art technology, the plant reduces gas consumption per unit by 15% compared to the old facility, thereby enhancing energy efficiency, minimizing environmental impact, supporting the growth of industrial clients, and strengthening national power grid stability.

Meanwhile, the ERIE is located in Map Ta Phut Municipality, Huay Pong Sub-district, Muang Rayong District, Rayong Province, spanning a total area of 609 rai. To date, construction of the main entrance road has been completed, and the development of essential infrastructure is underway to accommodate target industrial sectors. The ERIE is particularly tailored to attract data center operators and high-tech industries, leveraging its strategic location, robust utility systems, and potential for integrated energy solution developments. Additionally, EGCO Group is exploring further business opportunities in the form of Independent Power Supply (IPS) power plants to support the future growth of customers within the industrial estate.
