It is at the heart of growth in the modern world. Central Pattana has integrated ESG principles and financial tools to drive measurable impact by connecting business, finance, partners, and communities together. Their choices are key to advancing SDG 12 on responsible consumption and SDG 13 on climate action — while also supporting decent work, stronger institutions, and sustainable communities. Through this initiative, supported by the EU, and in partnership with CPN, the public and private sector come together to help young people turn their intention into action. Together we support businesses to integrate human rights and sustainability into their business models, which is not only the right thing to do, but drives resilience and competitiveness.
Mr.Andreas Roettger, Head of Foreign Policy Instruments Regional Team Asia-Pacific, EU Delegation to Thailand, said: “Youth is a powerful agent of change. In Thailand, the European Union has teamed up with UNDP and the private sector to help young people in developing solutions, influence consumer behaviour, and shape more responsible business practices. The ‘Agents of Change: Youth and Media for Responsible Business Conduct’ project aims at amplifying youth voices and strengthening demand for greater transparency, accountability, and responsible business conduct. We are delighted to invite you, Thai Youth, in joining us in translating global commitments into real local impact.”
Ms. Uthaiwan Anuchitnukul, Head of Excellence and Sustainable Development and Procurement Of Central Pattana Plc, said: “Over the past five years, the Better Futures Project has served as a ‘Platform for Change,’ bringing together the collective power of multiple sectors to drive sustainability into real everyday impact. We believe the younger generation has the creativity and potential to create meaningful change, but often lacks the space to experiment and take action.
This year, we are expanding opportunities for youth across all five regions of Thailand to co-create and develop ideas inspired by the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) under the United Nations framework. Through the programme, participants will learn how to uncover local insights, develop Youth-Led Solutions alongside experts and partners, and further translate these ideas into real business and societal impact.”

More About ‘Better Futures Project Year 5’
Central Pattana, in collaboration with United Nations Development Programme and leading national partners, is empowering a new generation of “Future Makers” through the Better Futures Project, driving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) toward real impact across communities nationwide.
Central Pattana Plc. has officially launched the 5th edition of the “Better Futures Project 2026,” in strategic partnership with UNDP, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, together with partners from the public sector, private sector, educational institutions, and civil society networks, including TOA, AIKO, Polytech, Jaspal, SCGP, Bar B Q Plaza, Major Cineplex, EPSON and B2S. The initiative aims to elevate the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) from a global framework into tangible local implementation through a systematic SDG Localization approach.
The programme has been designed as a platform that bridges global SDG knowledge, covering 10 of the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, with people’s everyday lifestyles. It also integrates case studies from responsible businesses in Thailand and around the world into a learning and prototyping process that enables participants to communicate, scale, and create long-term positive impact in a sustainable way. At the heart of the project is the mission to empower “GEN S” or Gen Sustainability to become the next generation of “Future Makers” through a Youth-Led Solutions approach. The platform opens opportunities for Thai youth nationwide, from primary school, secondary school, vocational education, to university level, to analyze local challenges, design solutions, develop prototypes, and present their ideas to business leaders and project partners. The initiative aims not only to equip young people with knowledge of the SDGs, but also to empower them to create meaningful and measurable positive impact for society in the real world.
From a strategic perspective, Central Pattana has leveraged its nationwide network of shopping centres, serving as “places for everyday life” that connect more than 1.5 million people per day (as of the end of 2025), with local communities, economies, and social ecosystems. The company aims to transform its shopping centres from lifestyle destinations into “platforms for learning, experimentation, and change-making,” where sustainability concepts can be translated into real action across every region of Thailand.
Central Pattana believes that creating “Better Futures” begins with issues closest to people’s everyday lives and communities, which can ultimately scale into long-term impact at both national and global levels. This is achieved by fostering understanding, engagement, and a stronger sense of connection between people and their local communities, while also encouraging the development of sustainable business ideas that can generate long-term economic value, with Central shopping centres serving as the core ecosystem driving this transformation. As part of the programme, Central Pattana has also introduced a special competition challenge under the theme “Act Local, Impact Global,” aimed at encouraging participants to create local community impact that can scale outward to wider society. Prior to the launch, the company conducted internal workshops with employees from different regions across Thailand, inviting them to “step into the shoes of local residents” and reflect on the question: “What would we like to change in our own communities?” This initiative reflects Central Pattana’s commitment to building sustainability awareness from within the organization and extending it into actions that genuinely align with the unique context and needs of each local community.
In addition, Central Pattana continues to systematically develop and manage green shopping centres and green building projects across energy, resource management, environmental stewardship, and community care. The company has invested in renewable energy through the establishment of Central Pattana Green Growth, which oversees Solar Rooftop installations and drives efficient energy management across its developments. This is complemented by continuous improvements in energy, water, and material standards, as well as the development of integrated waste management systems through prototype waste management rooms and recycling stations at major shopping centres before expanding to branches nationwide. Several projects have already achieved national recognition for sustainability excellence, including Central Krabi, Central Chanthaburi, and Central Nakhon Sawan, alongside new developments such as Central Northville, The Central Phahonyothin, Central GR9, and future projects in the Rangsit area.
The company also promotes the “Work from Mall” concept to enhance energy efficiency at the city level, while strengthening collaboration with more than 200 retail partners across over 2,000 branches through its Green Partnership programme. This initiative expands sustainability practices from the corporate level into a broader business ecosystem. At the same time, Central Pattana continues to drive community development through its CSV Region approach, which focuses on creating tangible and sustainable positive impact at the regional level across Thailand.
The “Better Futures Project 2026” also opens opportunities for the general public to take part through a series of creative and experience-driven activities that combine knowledge-sharing with hands-on engagement.
The event will feature booths and interactive experiences from partners across environmental sustainability, mental wellbeing, energy, and innovation sectors. Participating organizations include TOA Paint (Thailand), presenting the concept “TOA Innovation for My Future,” alongside expert-led knowledge sharing and business case studies focused on sustainable innovation. AIKO, in collaboration with Poly Technology, will promote household solar panel installation and the adoption of clean energy solutions for everyday living. Jaspal will showcase the creative reuse of high-quality surplus fabrics from Jaspal Group’s production processes, transforming unused materials into new creations that reflect a more socially and environmentally responsible future. SCGP will co-create booth structures and installations using 100% recycled paper materials based on circular economy principles. Food Passion, operator of Bar B Q Plaza, will share its approach to delivering sustainable happiness through efficient resource and energy management across its supply chain. Major Cineplex Group will highlight its environmentally conscious business practices and energy-efficient operations as part of its commitment to sustainable entertainment experiences. Epson Thailand will promote low-carbon printing solutions through its Heat-Free technology, alongside environmental initiatives such as ink bottle recycling programmes. Meanwhile, SOS will present the concept “A Second Life for Surplus Food,” transforming excess ingredients into specially curated dishes prepared by chefs from Tops, helping deliver quality meals to those in need while simultaneous
The programme also creates opportunities for university students and vocational students to generate income, while supporting inclusive businesses that provide equal opportunities for people with disabilities, as well as emerging entrepreneurs, to showcase sustainable products and innovations. This initiative helps participants connect with consumers, creating pathways from learning experiences to sustainable economic value creation.
Visitors can also take part in gamification activities through the Central X application, including SDG-themed treasure hunts designed to encourage learning through real-life experiences, with participants eligible to earn THE 1 points upon completing activities.
In addition, circular economy activities led by Fashion Revolution and Hangers will include clothing exchange programmes aimed at reducing textile waste and promoting more sustainable consumption behaviors. “Better Futures Project 2026” is therefore more than just a learning programme. it serves as a key mechanism for building an “Ecosystem of Change” that connects youth, communities, businesses, and partners across all sectors, with Central Pattana acting as the driving force behind the initiative. The project aims to ensure that sustainability is not merely a policy concept, but a tangible everyday practice that can create long-term impact for people, communities, and the future of Thailand in a concrete and sustainable way.
